Daring Fireball: Let's Have Some Fun Reading Way... →
I’m hanging out for apps on Apple TV. The Apple-ification of our living rooms is under way. The only thing left after that is Apple finally pulling rank on the movie studios and allowing us to import our digital copies of movies into iTunes (I mean the studios sell us 3D BLU-RAY/ BLU-RAY/ DVD/ DIGITAL COPY but then have problems with us using their products!!).

New Zealand judge orders US to hand over... →
There’s a whole lot of debate going on STILL over whether the raid and follow-up were ok because of whether Kim DotCom was breaking the law. This is completely missing the point. Everything that has occurred has been without any thought given to due process of the law. The enforcers are quite happy ignoring the law in order to achieve the ends they desire. While I believe that MegaUpload...

“Clearly this stuff isn’t selling.”
– Neeraj Monga, an analyst with Veritas Investment Research on RIM’s inventory. I suppose it’s a better quote than: “Clearly this shit isn’t selling.”

WSJ: Facebook Shares Close Under $30 As Option... →
As was to be expected. The price only stayed up while IPO bankers buoyed it through retention purchasing. There was never going to be a “pop” as Facebook priced itself at value in order to maximise the value they received for their shares. Facebook isn’t concerned about the value not sky-rocketing. The only thing Facebook needs to be concerned about now is whether the shares fall...

The Digital Versus Film Divide In Hollywood →
parislemon: The behind-the-scenes battle going on in Hollywood: digital versus film. Movies like The Avengers are shot entirely digital while movies like The Dark Knight Rises are still done entirely with film.  While the digital camp is trying to lure moviegoers with 3D, the film camp is increasingly using IMAX — in fact, The Dark Knight Rises will have over a hour of footage shot specifically...

Selling Software That Kills >> TechCrunch →
An interesting, and entirely valid, point. What responsibility doe software (and hardware) manufacturers/suppliers have in regards to the use of their products to facilitate human rights violations? Should such products be treated in much the same fashion as military hardware componentry? I think they should.

Kelora Patent Found Obvious: Are Other “Obvious”... →
Here’s hoping this is the beginning of the end for “obvious” patents. It’ll be great when the courts understand the technology enough to not “ooh and aah” over any development simply because they don’t get it.

Jury: Google didn't infringe Oracle patents →
Now we’ll see what the next move is. Is the rest of Oracle’s Java patent suite going to be forced in open source licensing? Or, do they even have an enforceable patent at all?

Stolen iPhone Adventures →
parislemon: A guy named Nelson stole Katy McCaffrey’s iPhone. Little did he realize his photos would end up in her Photo Stream. Or that she would post them all to Facebook… Gotta love technology. At least it looks like Nelson had a wild night on the USS Dumbass. (via Ryan Vance)

[douche-move???] Day After IPO, Mark Zuckerberg... →
I’m gonna be a party-pooper here. I mean congratulations and all, but this has got to be the least romantic, ultimate dick-move in recent times. Sure they got married, but Zuck’s timing is just douche. How’s that for timing? Entering marriage JUST AFTER he becomes a real billionaire so that he can sneak his way through California marital property laws. It may be that he’s...

China, existentialism, and the Facebook IPO →
As Facebook’s IPO happens, many Chinese question a system where it seems that a Facebook could never come to be. Government precludes access to FB, let alone create such a system of free exchange of information.
